The Property Foundation hosted another successful event last week at the new offices of PwC on the Waterfront in Wellington.

The foundation’s board and executive team were introduced to the industry at the seminar event. The MC for the evening was the foundation’s new chair, Anthony Beverley, who stressed the real value of a strong practical connection between Massey’s teaching and research facilities, industry and the wider marketplace.

Associate Professor Graham Squires, the head of the property programme and chief executive of The Property Foundation talked about the aim of the foundation to foster greater collaboration between academia and the property industry for the good of society. “By building better connections between those with an interest in the many economic, social and environmental concerns that relate to property, we can achieve better outcomes for everyone.”

Piyush Tiwari, Professor of Property at The University of Melbourne, then shared his insights on the topic “What is Prompting Australia to intervene in the Residential Mortgage Market? A New Approach to the Analysis of Interest Rate Differentials on Single-family Residential Home Loans”.

This was followed by a question and answer session to uncover interesting comparative lessons and potential policy transfer between Australia and New Zealand.
